Status Update (what I’m working on)

So, long overdue update, but faithful readers will be happy to know that I’m working (however slowly) on my sequel, which I’ve decided will be named, “Return to the Dreamosphere.” My biggest fan (11-year-old nephew Luke) got the first seven chapters as a sneak peek for his birthday, and his face said it all. He was sucked in! Ready for more! I have the entire outline finished and get chills thinking about what’s to come. Just need to get writing!

Book work has been put on hold somewhat due to my focusing on a lot of freelance work. I loved being a staff writer for Highroads Magazine, which sadly, is no more, so I reached out and secured gigs with several Phoenix-based mags this year so I can keep in the groove. I LOVE interviewing people, and doing food reviews, and visiting places, and just sharing stories. So! Book’s coming along (however laboriously), but freelance work is booming!

Dream Weavers Retreat

I just had THE most fantastic weekend! Thanks to the very hard work and preparation of four wonderful local YA authors, twelve other ladies and I experienced a weekend of sharing, learning, brainstorming, laughing, killing a mutant-size centipede, and enjoying the exceptional hospitality of the folks at Breath of Life Retreat in Pine. I needed this. I’ve been so blocked on Part II of the Dreamosphere, but I’ll tell you what, the activities and workshops, and sheer energy and excitement of being with these ladies got my juices flowing again. I’m so excited! And I’ve made a commitment to Gwen, the heroine of our book, that I won’t keep her waiting in limbo anymore! She’s had exciting adventures the past two years. Time for me to let her tell you about them.

I knocked out a couple thousand words on a new project too. Nonfiction for kids. More to come on that…

Here’s to dreaming and writing and LIVING!

Book Report!

Now this is cool. The Dreamosphere was recently the subject of one awesome 9-year-old’s book report for school! His drawing details one of the more heart-pounding situations Gwen finds herself in in the crazy realm of dreams. Awesome job, Luke!!!

The Goal has been set

September 2015. That’s when Book 2 in The Dreamosphere series will be completed. Or so I’ve been challenged by a fellow Phoenix YA author. I can do it! I’m excited to do it! Outline is done. Now just time to fill in all the good stuff.

And I had a wonderful time at the Metro Center B&N Book Fair last week! Took part in an author panel with several other locals writers. Always fun to talk about this passion of mine!

B*I*S*B*E*E

I’m headed to Bisbee, Ariz. this weekend for my own little personal writer’s retreat. If ever there was a town that fostered imagination and creativity, it is this quirky place. It speaks to my soul! Hope to make some good progress on the book. Stay tuned!

Time to get my butt in gear

Once-Upon-A-Time-writing-22074099-450-300

I need to get moving! I’ve had so many people ask me when Book Two of The Dreamosphere (title as yet undecided) will be available, and I, uh….haven’t even started writing it. Life is so busy! I know. No excuse. I just need to set aside some quiet time to brainstorm and imagine. I have a few ideas floating around…  So I solemnly swear to dedicate all my free time to the writing of Book Two. There you have it. Feel free to bug me about this constantly and keep me honest.
